I’ve been nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by the following lovely people:

Anne @ The Book Adventures of Annelise Lestrange

Amanda @ Cover2CoverMom

Jesalin @ JBelkBooks

If you aren’t already doing so, GO FOLLOW ALL OF THESE WONDERFUL HUMANS. You won’t regret it ❤

The rules of this tag are:

Thank the person who nominated you. (THANKS LOVELY PEOPLE!)

Answer the questions from the blogger who nominated you.

Nominate some more bloggers and write questions for them to answer.

LET’S GO…

ANNE’S QUESTIONS:

1. What is your favorite music genre?

I was going to say ‘boybands’ but I think that’s a bit too specific, so I’m going with pop… I love boyband pop, 90s pop, 80s pop, KPOP, and of course Eurovision. Happy, catchy music is my jam.

2. Team Britney or Team Avril? (2000’s question, I know lol)

Ooh tough question. I love a bit of Britney (who doesn’t?), but when I was going through my angsty teen wannabe phase I was all about Avril. ❤

3. Do you read comic books? Why/why not?

I don’t… the main reason being that I know virtually nothing about them and have no idea where to start! If you have any recommendations for a newbie, let me know 🙂

4. What’s your favourite(s) movie(s)?

THE SOUND OF MUSIC. It has yodelling, matching outfits made of curtain drapes, and badass nuns outwitting Nazis. What’s not to love?! ❤

5. What is your Hogwarts house?

#HUFFLEPUFFPRIDE

AMANDA’S QUESTIONS:

1. How many books do you own?

I have… 266 e-books and 233 physical books, making a grand total of…

499 books!

All the cool kids count their books on a Friday night, dontcha know.

Being 1 book away from 500, I naturally have to go out and buy another book to smooth this whole thing out, right?! Right! So glad you agree.

2. What is your reading goal this year?  Are you on track to reach it?

I set myself a goal of 100 books in the Goodreads Reading Challenge, and I’m currently 2 books ahead of schedule, but I kinda regret setting myself a goal in the first place. I feel like I’m competing in some kind of race only I care about and it’s stressing me out. Is anyone else experiencing this?!

3. If you could sit down and have a chat with any author (living or dead), who would it be?

That would be a certain Ms. J.K. Rowling, and I would (after bowing down and professing worship and adoration) spend hours basking in her glorious writerly wisdom. In case it isn’t obvious, I WANT TO BE HER.

4. What is the last book that made you laugh out loud?

13614864

I re-read Know Not Why by Hannah Johnson recently and it was just as laugh-out-loud funny the second time around. If I haven’t gushed about this book to you already, just take my word for it now and READ THIS BOOK. It will make you so HAPPY. Add it to your to-read shelf, you know you want to.

5. If you could erase one book from existence, which book would it be?

I don’t think I’d erase any of the books I’ve read from existence. I guess I could’ve mentioned 50 Shades of Grey here, but it doesn’t offend me as deeply as it does others… Sure, I’m of the opinion that it’s kinda grim and a lot ridiculous. But it’s also fun to mock. I believe all books have a place in the world, even bad ones. Also, just because I think a book’s bad, doesn’t mean someone else won’t adore it.

JESALIN’S QUESTIONS:

1. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?

The most difficult thing I’ve had to do was throw myself off the side of a mountain when I went paragliding in Austria… I was all bravado beforehand like ‘yeah whatever, I’m a casual daredevil. Scared? NAH!’ But then when I finally got all strapped into my parachute (which FYI, kinda makes you look like a ninja turtle), I was all but throwing up with the sheer TERROR that suddenly came upon me.

But then I jumped and it was AWESOME. (I *ahem* definitely did not trip over whilst running into the takeoff… #smooth)

2. What is your Zodiac sign?

I’m a Libra. And whilst I don’t believe in horoscopes, my star sign is an uncannily accurate description of my personality.

3. If you had a brainwashing machine, who would you use it on?

WHAT A GREAT QUESTION! I think I’d actually use it on people who have been legitimately brainwashed to un-brainwash them.

4. Have you ever gotten a tattoo? If not, do you plan on getting one?

No and no! I’m not cool enough to pull off a tattoo.

5. Winter or Summer?

I love Christmas, but I generally hate winter because it makes me really miserable. I love summer, but I get hayfever so I’m a gross, sniffly, itchy, red-eyed person throughout the entire season. Nevertheless, it has to be summer because blue skies and sunshine make for a happy Jess.

  1. What is your most detested food?
  2. What’s the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you?
  3. What do you like most about yourself?
  4. If you could marry a book, which book would you marry?
  5. What’s the last book you DNF’d?
  6. If you owned your own bookshop, what would you call it?
  7. If you could live in the world of any book, which one would you pick? (and for the sake of variety, the one rule is you are not allowed to choose Harry Potter :P)
  8. If you could meet one fictional character and ask them any question, who would you pick and what would you ask?
  9. What is your favourite smell?
  10. If you wrote a book, which genre would you write in and why?

MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL AND HAVE A FABULOUS WEEKEND.

  1. 1) I love The Sound of Music too! I would always watch it with my Mom growing up 🙂

    2) You are welcome for the excuse to buy another book to make it 500 😜
    3) 50 Shades is what I would 100% erase

    Great answers all around!

    1. I also grew up watching The Sound of Music with my mum 🙂 such a great movie. I took your advice and bought the 500th book… except it accidentally turned into me buying 2 more… oops! Haha I think 50 Shades would be a lot of people’s answer to that question. I am not a fan of the book, but I almost appreciate it for the sheer comic awfulness of the writing… it’s kind of hilarious!

  2. Oh my god I love how you know the exact number of book you own. I have no clue, I would have to literally look around and estimate how many there are (although now I really wanna count them all!)
Also I completely agree with you because I would LOVE to sit down and chat with J.K. Rowling, that would be such an amazing experience, and I would also completely erase 50 Shades of Grey from existence too!

    1. Haha well, I had no idea either until I counted them last night 😛 it took me like 15 minutes because I kept getting distracted and losing count! You should count yours, it’s kinda satisfying 🙂 It would indeed be amazing to meet J.K. Rowling… I feel like I might be too awe-struck to form sentences though! Haha, I am yet to meet someone who doesn’t feel that way about 50 Shades… it is one of the worst (if not THE worst) books I’ve ever read, but I kind of almost appreciate it for how hilariously bad the writing is. It made me laugh an awful lot.

      1. I would but I know me, I’d get bored halfway through and give up. I have loads of books I’ll just leave it at that for now!
I know what you mean, I feel like I’d just stare in awe at J.K. Rowling if I ever met her. I wouldn’t even be able to ask any of the questions I wanted to because I’d be too star-struck!
I haven’t even read but but yeah everyone I know who has read it has not liked it. Honestly I couldn’t put myself through the experience of sitting down and reading the whole trilogy (I can’t leave series unfinished, even ones as bad as 50 Shades!)

      2. Totally agree, I’d be completely star struck! Haha oooh, well you’re not missing out by not reading it. I read the first two, but couldn’t bring myself to finish the third. The writing is very cringe, especially as the main character goes on and on about her ‘inner goddess’. Every few paragraphs her ‘inner goddess’ will be doing something like ‘my inner goddess is dancing around the room’ or ‘my inner goddess gets her pom poms out and does a cheerleader routine’ or ‘my inner goddess does the samba’. Sooo bad. I almost feel like the whole thing might all be an elaborate joke.

      3. I think my friend started reading the first chapter and just couldn’t get any further, we talked about it a bit and I just decided I couldn’t put myself through that. If she couldn’t even get through one chapter how was I gonna get through the whole book!
It’s a book that definitely never gonna make it on my to-read list!

  3. Congrats on your award! 😀 That paraglide in Austria looks amazing! I’d love to go there, the countryside looks so beautiful. Also, thank you so much for the nomination! That’s so nice of you. 😘 I recently did this award, but your questions are awesome so I’ll definitely get round to it soon. Xx

    1. Thank you! 😀 And you’re very welcome! Haha oops sorry, I am the worst at checking whether people have already done tags 😛 Ahh Austria is AMAZING – you must go! We stayed in a town called Kitzbhuel and I think it’s the prettiest place I’ve ever visited. I would live there if I spoke German haha. xx

      1. Noooo it’s totally cool! I’m not very good at checking either. 🙂 plus it’s always so nice to get nominated that I don’t think anyone ever minds. Ahhh I’ll check it out, Austria is definitely on my destination bucket list! Xx

    1. Ahh thank you 😀 Wouldn’t that be amazing?! I feel like I would probably lose the ability to function/speak in proper sentences if I met her though… either that or I’d go on some mad fangirly ramble and make an idiot out of myself! Haha you could be right, I mean we both get weird chest pains reading sad books, and vote happy books for president 😀

    1. Aww thank you 🙂 It was scary before jumping, but once you’re up there you kind of forget to be scared because the view is so amazing. But jumping was terrifying. My legs were shaking so much! Ahh glad I’m not the only one – although you’ve read more comic books than me as I haven’t read a single one! Which ones did you read? 🙂

  4. OH you have SO many books I am jealous, I just want to be like you when I grow up 😛 And WOW, teh paraglide in Austria, that sounds kind of awesome, but scary as well? I don’t know if I could do it, to be honest, but that’s so awesome 😀

    1. Hahhaa thanks 😀 I didn’t realise I had so many until I counted them all… I think I have a problem!! Paragliding was amazing – it’s not scary once you’re up there (and you have an instructor strapped to you who controls the parachute so you can kind of sit back and enjoy the view), but the jumping was terrifying. I honestly kept wondering if it was possible to have a heart attack from fear, because my heart was beating SO FAST. But once that bit’s over, it’s awesome – I definitely recommend it!

    1. Thanks haha! Well, I went to the bookshop today with the aim of buying one, and I ended up getting three… oops! I got Frankenstein, The Woman in Black, and We Have Always Live in the Castle 🙂

      1. Ahh awesome, I’m really excited to read them! I didn’t realise there was a BBC adaptation of We Have Always Lived in the Castle – I’ll have to check that out 🙂

  5. I totally loved this post, haha! Jess, you rock hard! ❤ Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on comic books either and am a starter on it too 😦 I'm trying to figure out wha to do too, haha!

      1. I DON’T KNOW, BUT WE NEED TO HUNT THEM DOWN! They have some serious explaining to give us lol
